Welterweights and middleweights will get the spotlight again for the ninth season of “The Ultimate Fighter” on Spike TV.
Announcements for open auditions in London on Oct. 20 and Chicago on Oct. 27 were made during Wednesday’s live telecast of UFC Fight Night 14 on Spike TV. UFC commentator Mike Goldberg said the upcoming season will feature a UK-fielded team versus a U.S. counterpart.
“The Ultimate Fighter 8” debuted Wednesday on Spike TV, heralding eight lightweight and eight light heavyweight prospects into the infamous fighter’s house in Las Vegas. Former heavyweight champion
Frank Mir and interim heavyweight champion
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira coach the rival teams.
Nogueira will defend his crown against Mir in December, with the victor facing the winner of the anticipated Nov. 15 standoff between UFC heavyweight champion
Randy Couture and former WWE champion
