$15,000 World Series of Grappling Hits Las Vegas, Dec. 12

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Grapplers Quest, “The World’s Largest Grappling Competition,” has selected The Texas Station Gambling Hall and Hotel in North Las Vegas as the official host for the 2009 World Series of Grappling, featuring $15,000 in cash and prizes, Saturday, December 12, starting at 10:00 AM/PT.

Attendees will meet Mixed Martial Arts superstars, help raise money for Autism, win door prizes, participate in video game tournaments, and shop for numerous MMA brands and local businesses supporting the event. For more event information, visit http://tinyurl.com/gqworldseries2009 The 2009 World Series of Grappling is the first International professional and amateur submission wrestling event in Nevada, drawing some of the World’s Best Submission Fighters to compete for $15,000 in cash and prizes, including Ryan Hall, Sim Go, Baret Yoshida, Scott "Einstein" Epstein, Urijah Faber prodigy, Matt Sanchez, Wilson Reis, Rodrigo Ranieri, Daniel Valverde, Romulo Barral, Chris Moriarty, Walter Vital, Marcello Salazar, Bruno Bastos, John Toth, and South Africa’s World Female Grappling Champion, Penny Thomas. Professional Grapplers and mixed martial arts fighters may submit resumes to the event promoter, Brian Cimins, at [email protected].

Additionally, more than 1,000 amateur competitors worldwide are expected to battle for 230 World Amateur Grappling Titles for all ages and skill levels in Submission Grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, in addition to $10,000 in Absolute, open weight division prizes. The 2009 World Championship Grappling event will feature 27 International Teams, including Brazil, Japan, Canada, Dominican Republic, Mexico, as well as 33 United States-based squads.

Also, 75 World Championship Belts will be on the line for all Advanced Divisions, open weight classes, and Superfight Divisions.

Grappling is the ground fighting art of Mixed Martial Arts that combines the throws of Olympic Judo, takedowns of Wrestling, Leg Locks from Sambo, and other Submissions from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu like arm-bars, shoulder locks and chokes. Competitors of all ages and skill levels participate in the event, which is open to all grappling styles.

Grapplers Quest helps raise funds for Autism Awareness, Education and Treatments, and hopefully a cure at each competition nationwide. One dollar from each ticket sold is donated to help support “Grappling with Autism,” a nationally recognized effort to assist in funding Autism Biomedical and Diet Treatments for families in need.
