(PRESS RELEASE) -- On June 21, one of east Tennessee’s most popular
fighters will make the trip across the state for his V3Fights’
debut.
Adam Townsend is currently 6-3 and fights out of D-Evil MMA.
Growing up, he played several sports, and in high school he decided
to concentrate on football. Five games into his senior season, he
had rushed for over 1100 yards but then broke his fibula, which put
him out for the rest of his senior year. He had accepted a
scholarship to Carson-Newman and after a year went back home to
start a family with his high school sweetheart and son.
He has always been interested in MMA, or as he called it back then “UFC.” He started training and two months into it, he had his first amateur fight. Fast forward that a few years and he is one of the top prospects around and has a huge opportunity on June 21 when he faces undefeated fighter, Rodney Allison, out of Oklahoma.
Townsend knows that Allison is self-trained and feels that he has the advantage no matter where the fight ends up.
“It doesn’t matter where the fight goes. If I want it to stay standing, then I’ll be on the inside of him throwing punches. If I want to take him down, then he won’t be able to stop my shot. I train my stand up with one of the best coaches and stand up fighters in the state, and my BJJ under black belt wizard, Casey Oxenine. I’ll have the advantage everywhere,” states Townsend, “He hasn’t fought anyone as good, strong, explosive, or technical as I am. HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE IS IN FOR!”
