BABBY JOE TAIMANGLO CROWNED NEW PXC 145-POUND CHAMPION

(PRESS RELEASE) -- A highly charged crowd was on hand Saturday at the University Fieldhouse in Guam to watch Baby Joe Taimanglo wrest the PXC 145 pound Crown from Harris Sarmiento in a tough 5 round fight at Pacific Xtreme Combat (PXC) 27. Baby Joe, who’s ring name the Juggernaut indicates his hyper aggressive fighting style, took the initiative early and kept Sarmeinto pressed against the cage for most of the fight, where he controlled the action and worked over the Champion’s legs with knees and foot stomps. Sarmiento rallied briefly in the third when he connected with a series of punches, but Tamaglio recovered and retook control in the 4th and 5th rounds to win the unanimous decision and become the new champion.

In a fight that screams out for a rematch, the nights co main event saw PXC 135 pound Champion Justin Cruz squeak out a decision and retain his belt over a hard charging Trevin Jones. After a highly entertaining fight in which many in the crowd thought the young challenger Jones had done enough to pull the upset, the decision was announced that Cruz had retained his title to a chorus boos.

In other action Korean Top Team had a good night winning all three of their matches. The club now has top PXC contenders in three weight classes.

“PXC27 featured a huge fight card that didn't disappoint. MMA fans in Guam are some of the best fans in the world, and they appreciate great battles!” according to EJ Calvo, PXC General Manager/Promoter. Calvo added, "PXC fighters are the best fighters outside the UFC, and we will continue to give them opportunities to compete at the highest level of MMA in the Asia-Pacific region.”

PXC is the top mixed martial arts promotion in the fast growing Pacific Rim region. PXC 27 was the promotion biggest and most successful card to date on the Island of Guam where most of the PXC’s shows have taken place. PXC recently announced a major expansion into Philippines through a partnership with TV 5 in Manila. Next month PXC 28 will mark PXC’s highly anticipated return to the Philippines where they put on two highly rated events earlier this year.
