(PRESS RELEASE) -- On Friday February 25th, New York City’s Friday Night Fights kicks off its Friday Night Fights New
England Series with full card of Professional and Amateur Mixed Martials Arts bouts. In addition to this
being the first event of the new series, it is also the first MMA event to be produced by parent company
JB Sports Marketing, Inc.
The stacked card features many of the state’s most well-known fighters including Aaron Fondry, Eric Bruno, Vermont State Wrestling Champion John Green and Noah Weisman . The event’s reach will not be limited to those in attendance…… The New England Sports Network will be broadcasting the event via tape delay the following week. So, in addition to the anticipated sold out show, the event will be televised to over 14 million homes in the region.
Tom Murphy, of UFC fame and perhaps one of the most famous fighters to ever come out of Vermont and owner of Rail City Gym, will also be on hand that night as he is coaching Noah Weisman in the main event as well as undercard bout Eric Bruno. Here’s what Murphy had to say about the Friday Night Fights “I have been aware of what Friday Night Fights has done in NYC for several years and recently have gotten to see how professionally they treat the fans, sponsors, and most importantly the fighters. I am extremely excited to see them bring their professionalism to the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and have no doubt that they will continue to help our great sport gain notoriety and respect. I have been part of many great organizations over the years and Friday Night Fight’s team is about as good as good as they get.”
The card’s main event will feature Boston’s Joel Ly vs. Noah Weisman in a 3 round bout. The Co-Main event will feature Dave Rickles (Wichita, Kansas) vs. Vermont’s own Aaron Fondry. The undercard features many fan favorites including Vermont State Wrestling Champion John Green as well as Eric Bruno, John Cogndon, Aaron Black and many, many more.
“New England is considered a hot bed of activity in the Mixed Martial Arts community” says Scott Rousseau, VP of Marketing for the Friday Night Fights “bringing our fight series north to New England made perfect sense. The Friday Night Fights has earned a solid reputation over the years for providing excellent matches and experiences for its fans and we feel strongly that the fans that come to see the show in person and on NESN will appreciate the extra mile that we take in our events”.
