Brokenshire Passes Toughest Test yet; Gonzales Defeats Torgeson

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Tacoma, WA – On the most electrifying card in
CageSport history, Drew
Brokenshire (10-1) was successful in stepping up one weight
class and defeating the previously undefeated Justin
Harrington (6-1) for the CageSport lightweight title. In the
semi-main event, Alfonso
Gonzales (6-0) defeated Jared
Torgeson (10-10) via majority decision while becoming the
number one contender to fight for the CageSport middleweight title
currently held by AMC Pankration’s Brent Knopp
(5-0).
Tickets for CageSport 30 were sold out for the 1800 seat Emerald Queen Casino showroom leaving the casino to release 100 standing room only tickets only hours before doors opened which were all grabbed instantly.
The main event lightweight title fight featuring featherweight
champion, Drew
Brokenshire, and lightweight champion, Justin
Harrington, had been talked about as being a potential fight of
the year candidate as both fighters have a legitimate argument that
they’re ready for the next level. The fight crowd came in full
force when Brokenshire and Harrington stepped into the cage.
Everyone in attendance was on their feet with half chanting
“Ruckus” while the other half showed their support for Brokenshire
with loud “Drew” chants.
After a scrappy first round, Brokenshire took the fight to the ground in the second round and again displayed his superb ability to dominate in the wrestling game taking Harrington’s back and slipping in the rear naked choke forcing Harrington to tap at the 3:02 mark. Brokenshire defeated four time Oregon high school state wrestling champion, Talon Hofman in his previous fight at CageSport 29.
The undercard proved to be as exciting as advertised. Featuring the top professional MMA fighters in the Northwest, fans were treated to seven entertaining undercard fights that had fans buzzing all night.

to challenge Brent Knopp
for the highly coveted CageSport middleweight title. In the second
round of the entertaining three round bout, Gonzales excited the
local fight crowd when he connected on a right hook to the chin of
Torgeson that dropped him to the mat. While the majority of the
crowd thought the fight was over, Torgeson persevered and stayed
strong, making it to the final bell.
