CFFC 8: Seek and Destroy

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) is back for CFFC: 8 “Seek and Destroy”, an event that will honor the United States Military Forces right before Memorial Day weekend on Friday, May 20th, 2011 at the Resorts Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Fresh off another sold out event, which featured a great night of fights including undefeated prospect Tim Williams’ upset TKO victory over UFC veteran, Andre Gusmao, CFFC is back with another action packed card.

The Main Event will feature veteran welterweight Doug “Flash” Gordon taking on rising star Joey “Boom Boom” Rivera. With a record of 11-9, Gordon has fought almost all the top welterweights in the east coast including UFC and Bellator veterans. In his last fight Gordon knocked out previously undefeated Jesus Martinez in just 50 seconds of their first round bout to capture another title. This bout not only showed that Gordon still has something left, but showed he can still be a force in CFFC’s welterweight title picture. However, his opponent wants that title as well.

Joey “Boom Boom” Rivera was born and raised in Vineland, New Jersey who found trouble earlier in his life before turning to sports. Rivera moved on to Arizona and found a passion for MMA. There he went on a ferocious tear going 5-0 with five stoppages in the first round! Will his return to home bring him glory or will he end up Gordon’s hit list?

In the Co-Main Event, current lightweight champion, Marques Daniels will take on Jay Coleman in his long awaited return to action. Daniels (6-4) is riding a two fight win streak and only one of his six wins have come via decision. When Daniels fights, he fights to finish. Coleman (6-4) is returning to cage after a four year layoff. With a new attitude and a new school under the tutelage of Ricardo Almeida protégé Tom Beblass, Coleman is eager to get his name back in the game with a victory over Daniels on May 20th, 2011. With victories over UFC veterans, Coleman has the experience and the skills to get his game back to the top.

The rest of the main card will not only feature established pros and up-and-comers, it will also showcase the return of Olympic Alternate Kyle Cerminara and Brazilian sensation Regiclaudio 'Kexada' in his America debut in separate bouts.

Tickets will go on sale this weekend at all Ticketmaster outlets and the event will be live streamed via PPV on www.gfl.tv.
