Confident Kieran promises fireworks

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Building momentum is the aim for Kieran ‘The Hater’ Malone, as he prepares to face David Howell in a lightweight bout at Cage Warriors 44 on Saturday night.

The 20-year-old Glaswegian (2-4-0) picked up the second win of his professional career in his last outing, securing a unanimous decision victory over Adam Stevenson in August. That triumph ended a run of three consecutive losses, which included a 2nd round TKO defeat to Kev Donnelly at Cage Warriors 42.

“It’s very important to get a bit of momentum going now,” Malone admits. “Those three fights I lost were against very good opposition early in my fight career, but that’s no excuse. I wasn’t performing the way I could.

“But ever since I spent two months in Brazil, a switch flipped inside me and it’s time for people to see what I can really do. ‘The Hater’ version 2 is a different animal from my previous fights.

“I want to get on a big winning streak, be the best I can possibly be and show people what I can really do when I step in there and fight.”

Malone will be joined on Saturday’s card at Cage Warriors 44 by his Dinky Ninjas colleagues, Dean Reilly and Graham Turner.

“My fight preparation has gone very well,” he explained. “It helped big time having two of my team-mates fighting on the card because we were able to train together.

“As usual, I’ve worked on all facets of my game, but during this camp we’ve been putting in a lot of very hard sparring, which I think will be a key factor in why I’ll win this fight.”

David Howell (2-1-0) may have something to say about that when the pair enter the cage at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town on Saturday night. Howell will be eager to bounce back from his defeat to Danny Roberts at Cage Warriors 43 in July.

“I don’t actually know much about David,” Malone admits. “As delusional and mental as he comes across in some videos I’ve seen of him on You Tube, he does seem to be an aggressive fighter with decent striking. I reckon the crowd are going to witness fireworks.”

He added: “I love fighting on Cage Warriors and can’t wait for Saturday. The Cage Warriors team are truly awesome. I may be a bit biased but I see them as the best and most credible UK promotion, and one of the best in the world.”

Cage Warriors 44 at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town, London on Saturday will be headlined by Brian Foster v Jack Mason and Joseph Duffy v Ivan Musardo (CWFC lightweight title fight).
