MEDINA, Minn. -- UFC veteran
Joe Doerksen (Pictures) is at it again.
Known for taking fights on short notice, "El Dirte" came to the rescue again today when
Nick Thompson (Pictures) had to withdraw due to injury as the headliner for Friday's Extreme Challenge 67 event.
"Joe actually called me and said he was in the mood to fight and wondered if he could get on the card," said promoter Monte Cox. "He was kinda joking, but I told him to be careful what you wish for. A few minutes later, he had agreed to fill in for Thompson and fight
Todd Carney (Pictures) in the main event."
In the co-main event, another UFC veteran,
Brock Larson, will put his 16-1 record on the line against slugger
Manuel Quiroz.
The 11-bout card starts at 8:30 p.m. on Friday at the Medina Entertainment Center and doors open at 7 p.m.
