Aug 18, 2009
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Texas based mixed martial arts fight promotion company, Shark Fight Promotions, announced today that Don "The Predator" Fry will face Dave "Pee Wee" Herman in the main event at Shark Fight 6 - Stars & Stripes. Shark Fight match maker Brent Medley has successfully put together yet another stellar fight card following the organizations record breaking event in May. The popular Texas promoter's last event, Shark Fight 5.5 - Nothing to Lose, drew a record breaking 10,603 fans, the highest attendance record for a live outdoor MMA event in Texas. Shark Fight 6 - Stars & Stripes promises to be the promoter's most exciting card to date. The event will take placeon Saturday, September 12th, at the Amarillo Civic Center.

Frye(20-7-1) is a decorated Pride, K-1 and Ultimate Fighting champion. He recently defeated Judo Champion Rich Moss at Shark Fight 4 in Lubbock Texas, where Frye was undoubtedly the fan favorite. Herman (14-1-0), who once fought for EliteXC, is a heavy handed knock out artist who received a significant amount of buzz from hardcore fans for remaining undefeated in his first twelve fights. Eleven of his twelve victories are by way of knockout. Herman recently defeated Josh Barnes by TKO in the first round at Bellator 5, in May of 2009.

Jim Larson, President of Shark Fight Promotions, had this to say, "Following the recent announcement of Bellator Fighting Championships pushing their second season back to January of 2010, we approached Herman about headlining our Shark Fight 6 event. We were very excited when he agreed to fight on the card. When we learned that Don Frye would no longer be competing in M-1's Breakthrough event, our executives unanimously agreed that Frye would be the ideal opponent for Herman. We immediately approached Frye, who recently fought for us in May, and the rest is history. We are extremely excited to have two fighters of this caliber headlining our event. This is a phenomenal match up. It is definitely a fight that the fans will want to see!"

Brent Medley, the match maker for Shark Fight Promotions had this to add, "MMA fans will start to see even more compelling match ups between well known fighters like Frye and Herman in future Shark Fight events. We have substantially increased the amount of money allocated to building our fight cards, allowing us to put together even bigger cards going forward."

In addition to the exciting heavyweight bout, Shark Fight 6 will feature two championship title fights, and will showcase notable fighters such as UFC Veteran Nissan Osterneck, UFC Veteran Pat "Bam Bam" Healy and WEC fighter Phil Cardella. The full Shark Fight 6 - Stars & Stripes official fight card will be announced soon.

The doors to the Amarillo Civic Center will open at 6:00 pm and fights will begin at 7:00 pm. For more information about Shark Fight Promotions and the upcoming event, please visit www.Sharkfights.com.
