Edwards aims for the top

(PRESS RELEASE) -- WELSH bantamweight Kris Edwards is setting his sights high after recently signing with Cage Warriors.

Edwards (6-3-0) has described his CWFC deal as “a dream come true” and the 21-year-old is already desperate to make his debut for the organisation next year, with an international schedule of events taking Cage Warriors to venues in Hungary, Turkey and the Middle East, among others.

“I’m busting to get a fight confirmed so I can start preparing psychologically for my next opponent,” said Edwards, whose most recent bout resulted in a second round victory over Greg Knapp in September.

“Training at the moment is the same as always. I’m working hard every day so I just need to get a fight confirmed so I can start my camp. I love cutting weight.”

The promising youngster, who trains out of the Tillery Combat gym in south Wales, added: “I think Cage Warriors are the best promotion to be with.

“The organisation and management is second to none and they always get massive interest. I believe I can go to the top. I just want to fight and Cage Warriors will put big tests in front of me on a regular basis so it’s all good. That’s what a fighter needs.”

Although he’s yet to make his first appearance on a Cage Warriors card, Edwards is already eyeing a shot at the CWFC bantamweight title.

“My plan with Cage Warriors is to go unbeaten to the bantamweight belt and to show the world what I can do,” he said. “Long term, I want to go right to the top.

“I honestly don’t mind who I fight but I’d love to test myself against a European ranked fighter for sure. Whatever fight Cage Warriors feel is best and toughest for me at that time, I’ll take it.”
