Enomoto, Ivlev and Club Aris Emerge Victorious at M-1 Ukraine European Battle

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Saturday June 4th 2011 M-1 Ukraine European Battle took place from the National Circus Arena in Kiev, Ukraine. Top M-1 Challenge contenders and prospects competed with the intent to impress the attending M-1 Executives in hopes of earning a contract with Europe’s leading mixed martial arts promotion (MMA).

In the night’s main event, Yasubey Enomoto was able to show stellar defense and ample offense from his back in defeating former M-1 Challenge Middleweight Champion, Rafal Moks. Over the course of three rounds, Moks was able to seemingly take the Sengoku veteran down at will, but it was on the canvas where Enomoto was able to employ his rubber-guard and control the action. Enomoto was able to mount offense from his back while stopping Moks easily. For his effort, Enomoto was awarded the majority decision win from the judges.

M-1 veteran Yuri Ivlev looked strong, earning a unanimous decision victory over former M-1 Challenge Lightweight Champion, Artiom Damkovsky. Ivlev was able to control position with key takedowns and solid offense throughout the contest and also appeared much stronger than his opponent. The former champion Damkovsky looked good in spots and was able to land some kicks that slowed Ivlev but it wasn’t enough to earn the victory. With the win Ivlev snaps the first two fight skid of his career and puts himself squarely back into the pool of potential title contenders at 155.

Also, on the nights card was a highly anticipated match up in M-1 Ukraine’s International Club Grand Prix as Club Aris battled Club Belarus BK. At the end of the 5 matches it was the host club Aris who reigned supreme with a 4:1 victory over their rivals.
