FIGHTFEST Secures TV Deal
FIGHTFEST is making noise in the Cleveland area by bringing in the
best fighters in the Midwest for its new cable TV show.
Corey Fischer is the promoter and president of Fischer Entertainment Group (FEG). He secured a spot for FIGHTFEST on SportsTime Ohio, the Cleveland Indians cable network.
The FIGHTFEST TV series will feature a series of 8-man tournaments in the pro weight classes. Amateurs will accumulate points in their televised fights by gaining victories, takedowns or even the cheers of the crowd. At the end of the series, FIGHTFEST will crown champions in each of the pro and amateur weight classes.
FIGHTFEST started this process at a TV taping at Cleveland’s Masonic Temple on Sept. 23. Advancing in the pro tournaments were Micah Miller (145); Vadim Ivanov and Leo Fowler (155); Rhomez Brower and Matt Masterson (185), and Tim Kennedy (205).
The action continued when FIGHTFEST returned to the Masonic Temple on Oct. 20. Moving to the next round of the pro tournaments were Brandon Garner and Johnny Bedford (145); Alonso Martinez (155); Matthew Brown (170); and Bobby Martinez and Sean Salmon (Pictures) (205).
Cody Butzer has been the breakout star among the amateurs, winning fights on both TV taping. However, he will take a break from MMA this winter to wrestle for Cleveland State University.
The TV show’s title sponsor is Rover’s Morning Glory, a syndicated morning radio show. Rover is one of the TV commentators, while sidekick Dieter handles the post-fight interviews. Joining Rover for commentary at ringside are Channel 19 sports anchor Chuck Galeti and MMA experts Steve Hindman and Jeff Gorman.
FIGHTFEST has scheduled TV taping for Nov. 11 at the Canton Civic Center and Nov. 25 at the Masonic Temple.
