Featherweight rivals Larry Mir and Chris Barden headline Tuff-N-Uff's returns to Las Vegas on April 23

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Las Vegas' top amateur mixed martial arts promotion, Tuff-N-Uff, returns to the Orleans Hotel & Casino on Friday, April 23, and emotions are sure to be high as budding rivalries fill the evening's 15-bout lineup.

Featherweight rivals Larry Mir (2-2) and Chris Barden (1-0) look to settle their differences in the evening's main event, while undefeated light heavyweight Nick Thompson (5-0) looks to silence the controversial John Gettle (3-0), who broke his opponent's arm in his most recent outing.

Tickets for the event, which takes place at the Orleans Hotel & Casino's Mardi Gras Ballroom, start at just $25 and are available now at the Orleans Hotel & Casino's box office or online at OrleansCasino.com and TuffNUff.net.

Barden made his amateur debut at Tuff-N-Uff's event in Mesquite, Nev., this past October, and he earned an impressive first-round knockout over Justin Vadnais, who is Mir's training partner and cousin to UFC president Dana White. Since that time, Barden and Mir have taken every opportunity to bash each other in various forms of social media.

Twitter, MySpace and Facebook have hosted several trash-talking competitions between the two in the months since Barden's victory, and on April 23, the two will get a chance to settle their differences in the ring.

Meanwhile, Gettle returns to action two months after breaking opponent William Kowalski's arm with a devastating second-round kimura. While Kowalski dominated the early action, Gettle locked in the submission with time running out in the second frame. He torqued the hold firmly and snapped the limb in a brutal highlight that quickly made it's way to YouTube and spread throughout the MMA community.

Standing in Gettle's way will be Thompson, an impressive Californian that has earned stoppages in each of his amateur fights. The 6-foot-3 Team Excessive Force fighter has won each of his past three fights in less than one minute's time, and he currently holds the Ultimate Reno Combat and ISCF MMA light heavyweight titles.

Additionally, a four-woman 115-pound tournament that kicked off in March continues with Ashley Cummins (3-0) meeting Cathy Snell (2-0). The winner moves on to meet Wanderlei Silva product Gabriella Lakoczky (1-1) in the tournament's finals with Tuff-N-Uff's vacant 115-pound title on the line.

In other action, former Tuff-N-Uff bantamweight champion Jimmy Jones (5-3) moves up a weight class and puts his five-fight winning streak on the line in a featherweight matchup with undefeated Elite 1 fighter Diego Melendez (3-0), while Colt Bowler (2-2) and Junior Gomez (3-5) hook up in a rematch if their October 2009 clash. Bowler took the first match by unanimous decision.

In addition to the evening's featured matchups, a full lineup of aspiring amateur fighters from some of the world's top academies, including Frank Mir's Suffer Fight Team, Ken Hahn's Striking Unlimited, Marc Laimon's Cobra Kai Jiu-Jitsu, TapouT Las Vegas, Wand Fight Team and Xtreme Couture, will compete at Tuff-N-Uff's April 23 event.
