FightFest Rocked Cleveland
Fightfest made a successful debut at the House of Blues in
Cleveland on July 6. The fights took place on the stage, where so
many musical acts have performed in the Rock & Roll Capital of
the World.
Matthew Brown defeated Dan Kolbasowski in the main event with a vicious belly-down armbar. Kolbasowski's arm was in a sling after the fight. The win moved Brown into the finals of the Fightfest 170-pound tournament against Matt Shaw.
Taiwon "The Iron Dragon" Howard, who was won several kickboxing championships, defeated Mohammed "The Brawler" Rashad at 2:01 with the rear naked choke.
Nate Moore, a wrestler from Purdue University, improved his record to 3-0 with a win over Rashad the Invincible Dragon. Moore won at 4:07 with a tap out to strikes.
Terry Blackwell, representing Team Instigator in Canton, improved to 4-0 with a unanimous decision over former Navy wrestler Jeremy Joles. Blackwell had a hard time deciphering Joles' unorthordox style, but Blackwell scored with a pair of huge judo throws to earn the nod from the judges.
Chad "The Hitman" Herek is now 2-0 after a win over Nate "The Big Show" Wood. Herek landed a multitude of punches for over five minutes, but Wood wouldn't go down. Finally, Herek earned the win with the rear naked choke.
Also, Brian "Heartthrob" Hensley and Shane "Showstopper" Sutherland won their fights in less than a minute each.
The House of Blues action will air in the coming weeks on SportsTime Ohio.
