GENESIS MMA MAKES TELEVISION HISTORY First Mixed Martial Arts event to air from the Midwest

For the first time in television history, a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event taking place in the Midwest will be shown to the masses, as Fox Sports Net (FSN) Midwest has decided to step foot in the steel cage.

Genesis MMA announces that it has entered into an exclusive agreement with FSN Midwest, giving the cable sports channel the rights to air Genesis MMA events that will take place at the Family Arena. The next event will be Saturday, March 24, with others to follow on June 15, Sept. 22 and Nov. 24.

FSN Midwest will show the first of multiple re-broadcasts of Saturday night's event on March 31. It will be the first MMA event originating from the Midwest region of the United States to ever be broadcast on television. The later events will likewise be taped and aired several times over the subsequent weeks.

Genesis burst onto the MMA scene with its inaugural event at the Family Arena on Dec. 9, 2006, drawing a crowd of nearly 5,000 – the largest of its kind in the state of Missouri . Saturday night's event, which will begin at 7 p.m., boasts a deep fight card that will feature combatants from some of the top training camps in the industry, such as Miletich Fighting Systems, American Top Team, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and Team Andre's Ground Zero, as well as several local fighters. Royler (pronounced HOY-ler) Gracie, a member of the founding family of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, is also scheduled to appear.

As featured on 60 Minutes and CNBC, MMA is the fastest growing spectator sport in the country. Viewership and attendance of MMA events have risen sharply in recent years as the sport continues to carve out its niche in the American public.

Press credentials and reserve press seating for Saturday night are available and can be obtained by sending an email to daveb@genesismma.com. We hope to see you there.
