GENESIS MMA RETURNS TO FAMILY ARENA

Mar 13, 2007
National and local fighters to showcase their skills inside the caged ring

The people are clamoring for more, and Genesis MMA delivers.

Following the successful launch of its inaugural mixed martial arts (MMA) event at the Family Arena on Dec. 9, 2006 – which drew a crowd of nearly 5,000, making it the largest event of its kind in the state of Missouri – Genesis announces that four additional shows will take place at the Family Arena in 2007. The next one will be March 24, beginning at 7 p.m., with others to follow on June 15, September 22 and November 24.

As featured on 60 Minutes and CNBC, MMA is the fastest growing spectator sport in the country. Viewership and attendance of MMA events have risen steadily in recent years as the sport continues to carve out its niche in the American public.

With the success of its debut event, Genesis has forged a very promising relationship with some of the most renowned and revered training camps in the industry, such as Miletich Fighting Systems, American Top Team and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, each of which has committed several fighters for the upcoming events. A number of local combatants will also test their skills inside the caged ring of Genesis, including McCluer graduate Tyron Woodley, a two-time All-America wrestler at the University of Missouri-Columbia who is currently an assistant coach with the Mizzou wrestling team. In addition, Royler Gracie (Pictures), a member of the founding family of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, is scheduled to appear.
