(PRESS RELEASE) -- Gladiator Challenge, in association with the Los Angeles Fitness and MMA Expo, today announced the complete card for this weekend’s action-packed mixed martial arts (MMA) event, REVOLUTION, including two title fights.

This is a combat experience no fight fan will want to miss! In addition to all the action, fans that come early can get into the L. A. Fitness and MMA Expo for FREE with their REVOLUTION ticket. Fans can meet celebrities like UFC fighter Keith Jardine and his trainer, the world-renowned Greg Jackson, participate in live demos with top fighters, witness a jiu-jitsu tournament, and get the latest MMA clothing, gear, and supplements from the hundreds of companies that will be on hand at the Los Angeles Convention Center, located at 1201 S Figueroa Street in Los Angeles. In the main event, former UFC fighter and TUF (The Ultimate Fighter) season 5 alum Andy Wang (5 wins, 7 losses) was to battle Gladiator Challenge lightweight champion Saad Awad (8-1) for the belt. Unfortunately, Wang is injured and will be unable to compete. Taking his place on short notice is one of MMA legend Gokor Chivichyan’s toughest fighters, Karen Darabedyan. Known for being tough as nails, Darabedyan will rely on his renowned judo skills and well-rounded game while using the short notice of the fight to his advantage. About his opponent, Darabedyan says, “I respect Awad; he is a great champion. But he’s got some surprises coming his way. I have been training hard with Gokor, and I plan to use my whole arsenal. I will finish this fight.”

Gladiator Challenge lightweight champ Saad Awad is not one to back down from a challenge. “I’ll fight anyone,” he says, and his focus for this fight is simple. “My (Gladiator Challenge) loss to Nam Phan (last year) really taught me a lot, and fans can expect me not to lose this fight. I really want the KO. If he wants to stand for five rounds and bang, I’ll be there.” Awad is shooting to make his mark with this fight. “I see this fight ending with me knocking [him] out.” There is a lot at stake in this fight. The winner moves closer to his dream. The loser has to regroup and refocus.

Gladiator Challenge owner Tedd Williams says “Gladiator Challenge is excited to once again make history, and bring mixed martial arts to the prestigious Los Angeles Convention Center. GC is also proud to be working in conjunction with the L.A Fitness Expo in producing a great MMA event for the 2009 Expo. We have 8 exciting fights booked; this will be an event fans do not want to miss."

David “Kid Dynamite” Espinosa (6-2-1) will be taking on rising up-and-comer Jordan Sutton (4-2) in a bantamweight battle for the belt. The time has come for these two to settle their differences over the title. Fighters will always tell you that they want to beat anyone who has beat them, and it is no different with Rubin Taigle. He is looking to avenge a previous loss to Sean Loeffler (12-4), wants to do so in spectacular fashion, and this time the Gladiator Challenge 185 lb. superfight title will be on the line.

Undefeated featherweights Richard Schiller and Chris Kirtley will both try to be the first to pin a loss on the other, while MMA veteran Dave Rivas (9-7-1) will tackle the challenge presented by Tony Dalton. Also in the mix will be exciting bantamweight Rick McCorkell (2-0, 1 NC), and REVOLUTION will feature local fighters from the Rigan Machado Academy, the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy, as well as the downtown L.A.’s PTC (Piccinini Training Academy).

The 2009 L.A. Fitness and MMA Expo is an event no fan will want to miss. Chock full of athletic competitions, celebrity athletes, TV show auditions for programs such as Wipeout and I Survived a Japanese Game Show, power-lifting demonstrations, and a host of other exhibitions, there is something for everyone at this show. The 2008 L.A. Fitness and MMA Expo played host to over 18,000 attendees. Gladiator Challenge is proud to present REVOLUTION in conjunction with an event like the L.A. Fitness and MMA Expo.
