"Good Ole Boy" Hopes to Stop "Viking"
"Good Ole Boy" Hopes to Stop "Viking" Quest on Bodog Fight: Costa
Rica Combat
Much like the Scandinavian pirates who plundered the coasts of Europe from the 8th to 10th centuries, Dan "The Viking" Evensen will be seeking victory at all costs when the hit mixed martial arts series Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat continues this Tuesday, May 1 at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m. Central on ION Television.
After winning his first five pro fights, the towering 6-5, 260-pound Norwegian has suffered two straight defeats and needs to beat Jeremiah "Good Ole Boy" Constant in order to get his MMA career back on track.
"I have to win," says the 32-year-old Evensen. "I don't care who my opponent is. It's going to be violent, and I'm going to end this fight."
Standing in his way is 32-year-old Constant, who has only been defeated once in five pro bouts. "The Good Ole Boy" hails from Oklahoma but now trains in Oregon with middleweight sensation Matt Lindland (Pictures) and Team Quest.
"The people are different (in Oregon) and I stick out like a sore thumb," says the former oil field worker. "I love fishin', huntin' and pretty much anything that doesn't got nothin' to do with the city. But the coaches here are good and Matt has been a real mentor in life."
In other MMA action, Pennsylvania's Stephen Haigh (Pictures) takes on Takuya Wada (Pictures) of Japan. 26-year-old Haigh, a product of Philadelphia's famous Fight Factory, has three wins and two defeats, while his 29-year-old opponent sports a pro record of 13-7-8.
