High lights up Allen at Heat XC 6

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Jason High proved his veteran talents as he
destroyed previously unbeaten hot prospect Keto Allen in the main
event of Heat XC 6: Bragging Rights on Friday night at the Mayfield
Inn Trade & Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.
High (11-3), who is under the tutelage of MFC lightweight champion Antonio McKee, scored with leg kicks in the opening seconds before unleashing a picture-perfect combination that floored Allen (5-1), sending the Calgary, Alberta, native crashing to the canvas. “The Kansas City Bandit” pounced and punished with quick ground-and-pound before being pushed off by referee Vern Gorman who brought the fight to a halt at the 2:08 mark of Round 1.
For High, a product of Huntington Beach, California, it was just
the third knockout of his career but gave him his fourth win in his
last six outings.
The night’s biggest surprise came from Elliot Duff (3-2) who looked fatigued midway through the opening round only to rebound and register a body-blow knockout of Cody Krahn (9-3) midway through the second round. Duff, who fights out of Calgary, Alberta, was in danger throughout most of the opening stanza though he was able to outlast an attempt by Krahn at an arm-triangle choke. Krahn entered Round 2 looking fresher but shockingly Duff crumpled Krahn, who was fighting in front of his home-town fans, with a point-blank shot to the liver. The shocking result also brought a sudden stop to Krahn’s six-fight winning streak.
• Mike Froese put Billy Torrence down and utilized a ferocious ground-and-pound attack to score the TKO win at 1:12 of Round 1.
• Kickboxing world champion Shane Campbell, who was making his mixed martial arts debut, landed a right hand that dropped Leo Constant at the 24-second mark of Round 1.
• Scott Payne, who trains under Ryan Ford, ran into a game Mike Glover and it was a solid back-and-forth battle through five minutes, but Payne ended the encounter with a TKO at 0:35 of Round 2.
• Jake Bluhm was on a relentless attack and brought things to an end against Jevon Marshall, pinning him in a corner until the referee stepped in to halt things at 2:54 of Round 1.
• Justin Bloomer dominated from the get-go and finally secured the win by coaxing the tapout from Brent Haley who couldn’t get free from an armbar.
• Getting the night started with a bang was Jordan Beecroft who cracked a two-punch combination off the chin of Jared McComb to end their matchup only 13 seconds in.
Heat XC wrapped up its 2010 schedule with its sixth consecutive sold-out crowd. The top developmental organization of the Maximum Fighting Championship will return in early 2011.
