IFL Athletes, Coaches Bring MMA to Airshow
The annual NAS Oceana Airshow in Virginia Beach, Va., will have its
customary Tomcats, F-15's and Blue Angels. But this year, it also
features Tiger Sharks, Razorclaws and even a Ring Girl.
On Friday and Saturday, Sept. 7-8, while Navy pilots are performing in the air, IFL coaches and athletes will be performing demonstrations, signing autographs and meeting upwards of 30,000 civilians and military personnel on the ground.
Coaches Maurice Smith (Pictures) of the Tiger Sharks and Pat Miletich (Pictures) of the Silverbacks, IFL athletes Dan Christison (Pictures) of the Razorclaws and Gideon Ray (Pictures) of the Dragons and IFL Ring Girl Emily will be on hand for the event.
The appearance at the NAS Oceana Airshow is another example of the IFL's strong ties to the U.S. Military, following notable events such as Fleet Week New York, a Middle East coaches' tour and visits to numerous bases.
The league is preparing for the 2007 IFL World Championship finals at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Fla., Sept. 20.
