Inaugural British Fighting Championship GP draw
The Inaugural BFC Tournament Draw To Take Place On Friday The 13th
At The Ultimate Training Centre In Birmingham, England.
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Lucky For Some...?
After a whirlwind PR Campaign which has left the UK MMA waiting in anticipation; the inaugural British Fighting Championship GP draw will finally take place On Friday at the Ultimate Training Centre in Birmingham, England.
Dubbed as “lucky for some” this draw will be the first official media event for the fledging organisation which was formed when five separate promotional teams (Warrior Promotions, FX3, UWC, AMMA and Paul Murphy Promotions) joined forces earlier this year to form the UK's largest home grown promotion. Known as the British Fighting Championship (Or BFC for short), this exciting new organisation aims to push UK MMA fighters onto the global stage and for the first time create a unified British Grand Prix Champion.
To do this the BFC will be holding tournaments in seven separate weight classes, (from Bantamweight up to Heavyweight) And later on this year the BFC will also be looking to showcase female and amateur fighters across several categories through a mix of “Superfights” and several mini GP's for up-and-coming fighters. The 2009 GP's will also end in style with a special “Night of Champions” event at the end of the year, where the finalists in each weight class will battle it out to be declared the 2009 BFC GP Champion, and win the status of being the UK's number 1 unsigned fighter.
Over the past few weeks the BFC have been inundated with applications from fighters around the British Isles who wanted to be a part of this unprecedented event. And with the promise of television exposure and a GP Title Belt up for grabs, all is to play for as some of Britain's best MMA Fighters battle it out throughout the year in venues around the Country.
This ground breaking tournament has also captured the interest of the MMA and mainstream media alike and earlier this week the BFC was featured in the Daily Mirror's website. Whilst the initial announcement of the BFC was featured heavily across the internet and was even mentioned on ESPN's “MMA Live” show. The BFC are expecting multiple media outlets at the tournament draw on Friday afternoon as fighters from around the UK learn their fate.
Guests for this event include UFC veterans Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (who takes a break out of his UFC 95 training regime to make an appearance at the draw) and Paul Taylor (who trains at the UTC gym). Whilst many other UK MMA personalities will be in attendance such as Elite XC veteran; Rosi Sexton, the top UK Welterweight; Jimmy Wallhead and many more.
The tournament draw will take place at 12 noon tomorrow (Friday 13th February) and the results of the draw will uploaded as they happen on www.cagewarriors.com.. Whilst the tournament draw will also be available to download from www.cagewarriors.com and www.britfight.com later on in the day.
