'Iron Bear' won't put cage career behind him
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- It's been more than a decade since Gary Myers, nicknamed the Iron Bear,
first competed in a mixed martial arts event.
In fact, when Myers started his career by entering the cage at Extreme Fighting 1...
[] Tiger Woods was an amateur golfer.
[] The Houston Rockets were NBA champions
[] Jeremy Horn (Pictures) was a 19-year-old preparing for his first MMA fight.
In other words, Myers has been around the sport for a long, long time! He has fought the likes of Rich Franklin (Pictures), Yuki Kondo (Pictures), Wallid Ismail (Pictures), Marcus Silveira, Carlos Barretto and a young Jeremy Horn (Pictures).
"I have a job, and a family and I'm doing pretty well," Myers said. "But I can't seem to get this fighting thing out of my system."
Myers will headline the 15-bout King of the Cage: Meltdown event at the Murat Centre tonight in downtown Indianapolis. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the first bout at 8 p.m.
Tickets are available at the Murat Centre box office and all Ticketmaster locations.
