The founding family of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu will be well represented when Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) action returns to the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Royler (pronounced HOY-ler) Gracie is scheduled to appear at the Genesis MMA event on March 24 at the Family Arena. A deep fight card is set to begin at 7 p.m. and will feature fighters from some of the top training camps in the industry, such as Miletich Fighting Systems, American Top Team and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, as well as several local combatants.

Royler Gracie (Pictures) is the fifth son of Grandmaster Helio Gracie. He began Jiu-Jitsu at the age of three, playing soccer in a gi in his family academy, and has been competing as a black belt for more than 20 years. Royler Gracie (Pictures), who has fought in more than 300 matches, is a four-time World Champion and two-time Abu Dhabi Submission Wrestling Champion, and he currently holds several national and regional titles.

Genesis took the stage with its inaugural event at the Family Arena on Dec. 9, 2006, drawing a crowd of nearly 5,000 – the largest of its kind in the state of Missouri . Genesis has four shows scheduled to invade the Family Arena in 2007. After Saturday's event, the next three will be June 15, September 22 and November 24.

As featured on 60 Minutes and CNBC, MMA is the fastest growing spectator sport in the country. Viewership and attendance of MMA events have risen sharply in recent years as the sport continues to carve out its niche in the American public.

Press credentials and reserve press seating for the March 24 event are available and can be obtained by sending an email to daveb@genesismma.com. We hope to see you there.
