“James is one of the most talented competitors in the state right,” said 559 Fights president Jeremy Luchau. “He’s not only the 559 Fights champion at 185 pounds, but also ranked No. 1 in the state and winner of last year’s state tournament. It’s an honor to have a guy like that representing your promotion.”

559 Fights tickets start at just $20 and can be purchased at the Fresno Convention Center Box Office or online at www.559fights.com. VIP Table and Front Row packages are also available, call 559-813-0307 for more information. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first fight is at 7.

James (5-0) captured the 559 Fights crown in February with a first-round, submission victory over Las Vegas’ Michael Perez.

In the co-main event, 559 Fights Welterweight champion Art Hernandez defends his title for the first time against Soledad’s Hugo Lujan (4-2).

Hernandez captured 559 Fights gold in December with a technical knockout win over Madera’s Chris Huerta. “Hernandez is won of the classiest fighters we have on our roster,” Luchau said. “He’s a guy that takes competing very seriously, both inside and outside of the cage. I couldn’t ask for a better champion.”

559 Fights is one of the top amateur MMA promotions in the state of California, producing 25 events in the last two years in cities throughout Central California. The Fresno Convention Center is hosting an event for the third time. “We’ve found a great home in downtown Fresno at the Convention Center. Working with their staff has been one of the best experiences for our company,” Luchau said. “They’ve really dedicated themselves to bringing quality events to downtown Fresno and we are really excited to be part of that process.”

Fresno featherweight James Spear (5-6-1) also makes his return to the cage in Fresno with a showdown with Lemoore’s Andrew Skyers (2-4).

“Spear is one of the most exciting fighters in the Central Valley,” Luchau said.
