May 26, 2011
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Brock Larson and Eric Davila have competed in mixed martial arts for 22 years between them and have combined for 67 fights.

On July 23 at Target Center, they will face each other in the main event of Extreme Challenge 188. Both fighters are hoping that a victory will provide the boost needed to secure a contract with one of the world's top promotions.

The Larson-Davila bout tops a star-studded 16-bout event. Tickets are available at Target Center box office or all Ticketmaster locations. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the first bout at 7 p.m.

"This is a great opportunity to get to the next level," Davila said. "I've had a few other big fights like this, but haven't been fortunate enough to get a break. Hopefully, this will be my break."

Davila (19-10) has been fighting for 13 years, but his career took and upswing when he dropped to the 170-pound division. He has now won 10 of his last 13 fights.

Larson (33-5) has been fighting for nine years and has had six bouts in the Ultimate Fighting Championships, the world's top event. He has won four of his last five bouts and wants to get back into the UFC.

"This is a very tough fight, but it is also the kind of fight that gets the winner noticed," Larson said. "I feel like I should be fighting in the UFC, so hopefully a win will get me back in."

Larson is 33 years old and Davila 34. Both have impressive finishing statistics with Larson finishing his opponents in 31 of 33 wins and Davila finishing in 16 of 19 wins.

Extreme Challenge 188 is presented by Cage Fighting Xtreme.
