The Worldwide Fighting Championship announces the withdrawal of Marcus “Hurts Ya’,” Sursa from the WFC Heavyweight Championship bout scheduled for September 2, 2006 at “Thunder in the Rockies,” professional mixed martial arts event.

Sursa was scheduled to rematch Jeff “Big Diesel,” Ford, but has decided to move from the heavyweight class to the middleweight class of 185-pounds.

The rematch stemmed from the September 24, 2005, fight when Sursa defeated Ford via controversial referee stoppage in the first round.

No new opponent has been named at this time. An opponent and full fight card will be released soon.

“Thunder…,” will be headlined by the incomparable Eric “Butterbean,” Esch, as he steps into the WFC “Throwdown,” cage – making his Colorado MMA debut.

“Thunder in the Rockies,” marks the WFC’s return to the Budweiser Events Center (5290 Arena Circle, Loveland, CO., 80538).

All WFC events are sanctioned by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies – Office of Boxing.
