Marez to Headline Primal MMA Inaugural Card
Primal Mixed Martial Arts' "The Next Level" on August 11th will
feature in its main event Chris "Monster" Marez (4-1), who is
coming off an impressive unanimous decision victory over Wesley
"Cabbage" Correira in Hawaii's X-1 Extreme Fighting. Marez, 6'2"
280 pounds, is a hungry fighter ready to establish his name in the
HW division. Marez will face veteran fighter Vince Lucero (Pictures) (18-12).
In another featured bout, Team Quest fighter Jesse Taylor (Pictures) (4-1) will take on WEC veteran Kenny Ento (Pictures) (7-2). Taylor, a standout collegiate wrestler at Cal State Fullerton, now trains at Team Quest's camp in Temecula, CA with the likes of Dan Henderson (Pictures) and Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (Pictures). Should Ento take the fight to the ground where he has submitted many of his opponents, he might be surprised at the Jiu Jitsu of Taylor who has been working with Vinincus Malghaes.
Also featured on the card is what is sure to be an action packed featherweight bout between Shawn "Quiet Storm" Bias (11-4) and Primal MMA Auditions winner and local favorite Antonio Duarte (6-1). The always entertaining Bias, whose only loss at 145 came at the hands of Urijah Faber (Pictures), is coming off a win at the Palace Fight Championships in which he claimed the PFC Featherweight Championship.
Duarte, who trains at Entram Vale Todo Gym in Tijuana, impressed judges Urijah Faber (Pictures) and KJ Noons at the Primal Auditions on June 9th. At only 20 years of age Duarte will face his most difficult test yet in Bias. Duarte will be representing the camp of talented Mexican MMA fighters at Entram Gym, the epicenter of MMA in Tijuana.
