Melee on the Mountain Finale
Mixed Martial Arts on November 6th Wraps Up 2007 Season of Melee on
the Mountain Series at Table Mountain Casino
Fresno Native Philip Perez (Pictures) to Headline in Featherweight Title Bout
Following three sold out Melee on the Mountain events at Table Mountain Casino in 2007, there is no doubt this series of boxing and mixed martial arts fight nights promoted by Roy Englebrecht Events in association with Table Mountain Casino have been an undisputed success. The series turns up the heat Tuesday, November 6th, with a spectacular mixed martial arts event featuring Fresno native, Philip Perez (Pictures), in the Featherweight Championship main event.
In the main event, Fresno's own Philip Perez (Pictures) (10-3) battles Zach Lari (13-3) in a five round featherweight title bout. Perez, a scrappy battler who is coming off a big first round submission win over Brandon Shuey (Pictures) in October's high-profile Strikeforce event, will be pushed to the limit by the 24-year old Lari out of Idaho, who trains with the world-renowned Lions Den. This five round featured bout will also be for the coveted Golden State Mixed Martial Arts Championship Belt.
Featured on the seven bout card are some of the area's top young talent, who are all, searching for that defining win that will lead them on the road to the top.
Matt Major (3-0), an explosive fighter out of the American Kickboxing Academy gym in San Jose who was recently featured on the VERSUS series TapOut, will be in action in a middleweight contest against Andy Maccarone (Pictures) (7-4).
In another middleweight bout, Laguna's Jason Bukich puts his 3-0 record on the line against fellow unbeaten Luke Rockhold (1-0), a Santa Cruz native who also fights out of the AKA camp. Standout AKA middleweight Wayne Phillips (2-0) will match wits and fists with debuting Anthony Alves of Turlock, California.

Also in action on November 6th will be lightweights Josh Chavez (0-0) of Fresno and Benjamin Guyer (0-1) of Visalia, as well as middleweights Steve Hernandez (1-2) of Stockton and Joe Rojas (0-2) of Bakersfield.
According to John Mayewski, President and CEO of Table Mountain Casino, "We pride ourselves on providing ultimate entertainment value in the Central Valley and are thrilled to again present the fastest growing sport in the world, Mixed Martial Arts, at Table Mountain Casino for Valley fight fans."
