(PRESS RELEASE) -- With the recent release of the feature film
Special Ops, action movie fans may now have a new star to rally
around. Audiences and judges at the Action-On Film Festival
recently awarded actor and martial artist A.J. Draven the title of
BREAK-OUT ACTION STAR after seeing his work as a U.S. Marine on the
run for his life.
A.J. Draven is a Mixed Martial Artist and black belt in Krav Maga (a brutal street-fighting/ self defense system that hails from the Israeli Army), who is also gifted with a like- able, regular guy appeal. His greatest asset may actually be his sense of humor. Mixed-in with his aggressive and realistic fighting style, Draven keeps the audience hooked for more.
Draven has led up two other films, one, Blood Wars, currently airs
on Syfy's Chiller Network, and the other, Project Fear, is due out
in 2011. He has now coordinated and choreographed the martial arts
in 4 feature films, and has trained and choreographed actors for
various television shows including Alias, Human Target, and
Traveler.
Special Ops, directed by Tom Shell, also stars Stephen Bauer (Scarface) and Emmy award winning Finola Hughes (Stayin' Alive). The action thriller follows Draven who plays Captain Kyle Fierson, an American Marine fighting to clear his name and save the lives of millions when top secret weapons fall into the wrong hands. Besides being nominated for Action Picture of the Year, Special Ops also won Draven recognition in the categories of Best Fight Choreography (utilizing the arts of MMA, Eskrima, and Krav Maga), and Best Action Sequence (for Draven's knife on knife battle with Eskrima Grandmaster Al Punay of the Philippines.)
