PECHANGA HOSTS ITS FIRST EVER MMA EVENT NOV. 19: BERRY v. COOPER
Oct 30, 2010
(PRESS RELEASE) -- On November 19, 2010 Pechanga Resort & Casino
will host its first ever live Mixed Martial Arts show with ten
fights scheduled. Pechanga has long been one of the premiere
Southern California boxing venues. Lords of the Cage and Pechanga
presents the fight card Apocalypse in the Cage. The main event will
feature two exceptional stand-up fighters: local favorite Keith
Berry 9-5 of Murrieta, CA and the dangerous Brett Cooper 12-6, of
Long Beach, CA fighting for the LOTC Light Heavyweight
Championship, scheduled for 5 rounds.
This Championship fight pits two young and dangerous Stand-up fighters who can KO their opponent with either hand. Brett Cooper, only 23 years of age, started fighting at the tender age of 18. After seven fights, he had a modest record of 4-3. However, as he matured he has developed into a great young fighter, evidenced by his recent win on Fox Sports Network over Matt Major. Cooper has also fought on several major shows including the IFL, Affliction, and Bellator. Additionally, he owns wins by KO over UFC veterans Rory Markham and Jason Von Flu. Brett is just now entering into the prime of this career and looks to take a big step forward with his fight against local favorite Keith Berry.
Stepping into the Cage against Berry will not be easy. Berry is a
very dangerous striker and a strong 6’1, 205 pound fighter who
looks to KO his opponent with every punch. Aside from having the
local crowd on his side, Berry also has a very impressive resume as
well. He has fought on Pay Per View with King of the Cage and with
the WEC. Berry is a hot fighter right now, coming off three
straight wins with his last in June 2010.
Berry is also young and at 24 years, also entering his prime like Brett Cooper. That, along with their stand-up styles, is what will draw attention to this match-up. One of these young fighters will take a big step forward. Unfortunately, that also means that one will have to take a big step back.
The show will also feature nine additional fights, with many of them featuring local fighters like Ricardo Feliciano 2-0, Temecula, CA against Kyle Bolt 2-1 in a 3 round Light Heavyweight fight. The show will also include one of the top amateur fighters in the country. Ben “Flat Top” Foder, 23-2 as an amateur, will be looking to make a splash when he makes his pro debut on Apocalypse in the Cage.
Along with all of the fights, fans will get a very special attraction as two of MMA’s biggest stars, the Iceman Chuck Liddell and Superstar Tito Ortiz, will be on hand as special guests to sign autographs and take pictures with fight fans.
