Pete Spratt returns to HD NET FIGHTS Heading into this past
October's HDNet Fights debut show, longtime welterweight fighter
Pete "Secret Weapon" Spratt was in desperate need of a win.
Having lost three in a row earlier in the year, including two defeats in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Spratt's back was up against the wall as he faced off against a fighter who had defeated him a month prior, TJ Waldburger.
Determined to get himself back on track, he imposed his will on Waldburger, controlling the fight from the get-go. Dictating pace and positioning, Spratt knocked out his young upstart opponent in just under 90 seconds, proving that there's still life left in the cagy veteran.
Two months later, he returns to the scene of his last victory as he once again gears up for HDNet Fights in a scheduled bout against up-and-comer Tristan Yunker (Pictures) in a welterweight showdown.
"Any time you have a victory you're going to feel like it went well for you," said Spratt of his HDNet Fights experience. "Heading into the second show, I'm feeling good, I'm feeling confident, and I'm looking forward to going back in there and getting another win.
"I'm just looking forward to the opportunity to get back in there - it doesn't matter who it is - the name of the person across from me just doesn't matter. If I get in there and do my thing, perform the way I'm capable of performing, I don't think there's anyone out there that can stop me."
After the disappointments he faced earlier this year, he feels he's done what's been needed to continue to prolong his fight career in a successful fashion.
"I've taken the necessary steps to further my career and insure some longevity in my career," commented Spratt. "I've been training nothing but straight jiu-jitsu the last six, seven months, and I'm having a good time with that and I'm learning things.
"For me, the game is fun again and I reeled off one victory in HDNet and I'm looking to continue the streak."
