Feb 10, 2011
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Rocktagon MMA promoter Bryan Klaus made it clear that he was going BIG after joining the nationwide Rocktagon MMA dynasty based out of Las Vegas, Nevada.

He seems to be making good on his promise as he has released the first three fights from his upcoming February 12 card to be held at Packard Music Hall in Warren, Ohio to the media and they are, in fact, the three biggest pro fights available. In other words, without announcing another fight, this card is already stacked.

In the Rocktagon PRO series:
170 – Mickey Hughes vs Micah Bender
155 – Joey Holt vs Dalton Moss
185 – Kevin Zalac vs Brandon Saling

The breakdown:

Hughes vs Bender

If you set out to grab the biggest pro welterweight in the area, there’s no other choice who to call first but Micah Bender. If one were to seek out the best pro welterweights in Ohio for Micah to fight, names that would immediately come to mind would be Tiawon Howard and the current NAAFS champ Nick Duell, but as you’ve guessed, he’s already beat them. The only name left on the who’s-who list in Ohio that would solidify Bender as the undisputed king of the hill would be the local beast of beasts, Mickey Hughes. Famous for his aggressive and dominating style Hughes is arguably the last person in Ohio available to give Bender a run for his money. Formerly at 185 pounds, Hughes made the cut to a rock solid 170 and gnashed his way up through Ohio’s best to become the #1 contender for the NAAFS pro belt. After losing his title shot to previously mentioned Nick Duell, Hughes has to see this opportunity as a second chance to claim Ohio’s top-dog status.

Joey Holt vs Dalton Moss

Who hasn’t been dying to see Joey Holt make his pro debut? He’s easily been one of eastern Ohio’s most famous amateurs. With a style that has never disappointed a crowd and a flair for entertainment, Holt looks to smash yet another opponent and get a foothold on his pro career. And who better for him to fight than the Big Guns Amateur 155 champ, Dalton Moss who brings an equally exciting delivery to the mix. Rumor has it that Moss has even upgraded camps and is now training at Ohio’s premier gym, Evolve MMA to prepare for what is predicted by many to be the fight of the night.

Kevin Zalac vs Brandon Saling

Youngstown’s 185 pound Kevin Zalac, another one of eastern Ohio’s biggest superstars, boasts the right to the coveted NAAFS amateur 185 title and can also claim the rare right to say that he hasn’t tasted defeat once in his 10 fight career. Can you say stud? Who to match him up against for a huge card like this comes with a clear and easy answer – Brandon Saling. Saling has made quite a name for himself by collecting, you read it right, five different amateur titles - and you thought Buffalo Bill in “Silence of the Lambs” was a collector. This fight in Bryan Klaus’ Rocktagon MMA pro card trifecta solidifies Feb 12 as a MUST-SEE event and easily the most stacked card in our region in a long time.

The elite series is packed with local talent featuring some of the areas finest and most exciting fighters:

145 TITLE – Mark Cherico(5-0) vs Mark MacDonald (3-1)
155 TITLE – Garret Sahene(6-2) vs Khama Worthey(4-1)
HW TITLE – Mike Sharpe(5-0) vs Dustin Carter(6-2)

Represented teams are: Evolve, Team Bundy, Instigator, PTT, Team Titan, Next Level JiuJitsu, World Class MMA, Rinaldi’s, Rusty Cage, Team AMS, H2O, Team Impact, Tribal JiuJitsu, PA Brawlers, Mainstreet MMA, and House of Pain.
