SPORTSNET .CA ANNOUNCES CANADA'S FIRST EVER FANTASY GAME FOR MMA
Nov 3, 2010
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Match wits with Showdown Joe Ferraro starting
today in Canada's first ever bracket pool for Mixed Martial Arts on
sportsnet.ca.
Contestants pick winners from three UFC events, starting with UFC 122 on November 13 and culminating in the final match between Georges St. Pierre and Josh Koscheck at UFC 124 in Montreal (http://mmatournament.sportsnet.ca).
Fights from each of the events populate the familiar bracket structure used in other tournament games. A unique "bracket bonus" scoring system ensures that the stakes are raised in each round as point values escalate. The game was designed and built by FightMetric(r) (http://www.fightmetric.com), the world's leader in MMA statistics and fantasy games. Contestants can create their own groups to challenge their friends or play against everyone in the overall challenge.
The grand prize is a 50-inch LCD high-definition television along with a PlayStation(r)3 and a copy of the video game EA Sports MMA for the PlayStation(r)3. Other prizes include Best Buy gift cards and Sportsnet Prize packages.
