Scott Barrett vs. Chase Gormley set for XFC 14 Oct. 21st in Orlando

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The southeast's premier MMA promotion, the XFC announced today that Scott Barrett and UFC veteran Chase Gormley will collide at XFC 14. The fight will take place at The UFC Arena in Orlando, Florida and will air live on HDNet on Friday, October 21st.

According to John Prisco, the President of the XFC, "This is a big fight for the XFC. Whoever wins this fight will be one of the top guys in our heavyweight division. Chase has fought some of the toughest guys in the world and has legit wrestling credentials. He also has heavy hands and an underrated ground game. On the other hand, Scott Barrett is one of those guys that is under the radar. Quietly he has built an impressive record and dominated everyone in the southeast. He is an animal and has some of the most brutal ground and pound I have ever seem. I'm really excited for October 21st."

A product of the Hardcore Gym in Athens Georgia, ‘The Bear’ possesses an impressive 12-2 record. Barrett has fought twice in 2011 and each fight has ended with his hand raised after a first round TKO victory. In January Barrett defeated UFC veteran Mike Wessel with his superior wrestling followed by vicious ground and pound. In April he followed it up by doing the same thing to Kevin Brooks in Atlanta.

“This will be the biggest fight of my career,” says Barrett. “I’ve fought some tough guys in the past but none that have the skills of Gormley. I pride myself on being a good wrestler but his credentials are a lot better than mine. He has great takedowns and a lot of power in his right hand. I'm going to get a good camp in and work on finding holes in his game so I can come out on top in October.”

Chase Gormley was a NAIA All-American Wrestler in college. Known for his takedowns, thunderous ground and pound, and vicious knockout power, the Los Angeles native can end a fight anywhere at anytime.

Additional bouts will be announced over the next few weeks so be sure to check www.officialxfc.com for the latest news.
