Sean “Shorty Rock” Santella and Aljamain “Aljo” Sterling battle for CFFC’s First Bantamweight Title
Aug 15, 2011 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Cage Fury Fighting Championships will crown
their first bantamweight champion when Sean “Shorty Rock” Santella
battles Aljamain “Aljo” Sterling on October 22, 2011, live from the
Superstar Arena at the new Resorts Hotel and Casino in Atlantic
City, New Jersey. Santella enters this bout with a record of 8-2-1
and already has captured three titles in other organizations.
However, he feels something different about this title shot. “I’m
really excited to be fighting for the CFFC bantamweight title,”
Sean says. The AMA Fight Club practitioner has trained with the
likes of UFC veterans Jim Miller,
Dan
Miller and Charlie
Brenneman just to name a few. Santella believes that Sterling
is just another hurdle and as he puts it, “He is in the way of me
getting my belt. I want to fight the best guys out there and
Sterling is on a great streak.”
Sterling is definitely on a great streak jumping right out the gate with a professional record of 4-0. Although it may seem that Santella has the edge in experience, Sterling went 6-1 in the amateur ranks with his only loss coming by split decision. Aljamain isn’t thinking about experience and is ready for the challenge. “I'm young, I'm hungry, I'm in a good spot, and training with a great team,” Sterling says. “Santella seems like a really nice guy and is a great fighter. But after my last win, I started to think that it was only a matter time before we bump heads, being that we both reside on the East Coast. I really believe he's knocking on the UFC doors with a ticket, but I have something funky to say about that.”
This title bout is the second CFFC will produce on October 22, 2011 as undefeated phenom, Tim Williams takes on veteran Damian Dantibo in a scheduled five round middleweight title bout. “This title fight between Sean and Aljamain compliments and already incredible card,” says CFFC President Rob Haydak Jr. “Crowning either one of these great fighters as our CFFC bantamweight champion is going to be an honor. This is another huge step in us solidifying our position as one of the top regional MMA companies on the East Coast."
About Cage Fury Fighting Championship: Cage Fury Fighting Championships (www.cffc.tv) is a pioneer in bringing prominent and elite MMA talent to the east coast beginning in 2006.
