Steven Katz and CMA Fighting Present Evolution Fighting Championships 8
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Evolution Fighting Championships, one of the
East Coast's top amateur MMA organizations, is back with another
big show on Saturday November 12 at the Rahway Rec Center, 275 East
Milton Avenue, Rahway, New Jersey. Evolution is known for its
outstanding fight cards, which is no small feat considering the
obstacles that local MMA promotions face. Promoter Steven Katz had
an especially difficult time making this card happen.
"Man, I'll tell you, I had a finished fight card and it fell apart," Katz said. "It's been rough putting these fights together."
This is a common lament among local MMA promotions. What separates the men from the boys in this business, however, is how promoters deal with these kinds of issues. And Steven Katz has everything under control. Despite the last minute difficulties, Katz has managed to build what could very well be his best card yet.
"I was up until three in the morning getting that stuff done, " he explained. And he did get it done. Confirmed is a title fight for the vacant 175 pound crown, which will be contested by Al Alo vs. Ryan Vernay.
"Al Alo, if you look at his record it says that he's 2-2," Katz explained. "But the losses he's got came against one Bellator guy and one Strikeforce guy. So he's legit and he can bring it. Ryan Vernay, at 4-4, also has some notable names on his record. He's more than ready for this opportunity. This is going to be a great fight."
Also on the card is a newcomer who is already raising eyebrows. His name is Roberto Munoz, and in his debut fight, he had a stunning first round knockout over his opponent.
"Roberto "The Formula" Munoz, I see him at the gym on a regular basis," Katz said. "I know he can execute. If he executes his game plan, it's going to be a rough night for anybody in there with him. Very athletic kid, very hungry, trains hard, great condition. He's fighting Alberto Medino from Mike Codella's well known camp. He's got some great guys. That should be a good fight, but I'm expecting Munoz to do a lot of things in the near future. He's not going to overlook Alberto or anyone else, but this kid is living the dream. This is what he wants to do, he doesn't do want to do anything else."
Ariel Solano, the Evolution 126 pound champ is also looking to fight on this card, and after his opponent dropped out, Steve Katz is looking for a replacement. Still, as it stands right now, the card is very stacked, and fans will definitely be getting their money's worth--as always.
The fights will be starting at 3:00pm on November 12. This is so fans can catch the Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos UFC heavyweight title fight on Saturday night. It shows how flexible Katz is, and how he always thinks ahead. This is why fans keep coming back, in bigger and bigger crowds, for every Evolution show.
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 718-607-4158. Doors open at 2:00pm at the Rahway Rec Center, 275 East Milton Avenue, Rahway, New Jersey, 07065. For fans who can’t make it to the venue, the fights will also be broadcast on GoFightLive.tv.
