Survival Fighting Championship, also known as Survival FC, is a British-based mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion that was first introduced in 2007. There is a lot of excitement surrounding Survival FC, and it potentially become one of the UK's leading MMA promotions.
Survival FC is promoted by James Farrell and Ben Rennick, James has a background in the promotions and advertising industry. Ben has a back ground in the UK film and television industry as well as competing in professional Cage fights.
Origins
The Survival FC is linked with a number of the UK's leading martial arts schools and teachers. The Survival FC's policy is not to only recruit some of the worlds best fighters but also training younger fighters at the main school in Hemel Hempstead.
Rules
Survival FC's rules are based on similar events which are accepted by the Fighting Arts Organisation. These rules have also be especially developed for this promotion to make it more exciting and intense for the viewer.
Rounds
Survival FC is spilt up into two different types of fighting, Ultimate Fighting and Ultimate KickBoxing.
Ultimate Fighting non championship bouts will consist of 3x five minute rounds, all championship bouts will consist of 5x five minute rounds. With a one minute rest period in between each round.
Ultimate KickBoxing, non championship bouts will consist of 3x three minute rounds, all championships bouts will consist of 5x three minute rounds. With a one minute rest period in between each round.
Weight Divisions
Survival FC has ten weight classes:
Feather Weight: Below 145lbs
Lightweight: Over 145 lbs. To 155 lbs.
Welter weight: Over 155 lbs. To 160 lbs.
Super Welter weight: Over 160 lbs. To 165 lbs.
Middle Weight: Over 165 lbs. To 170 lbs.
Super Middle Weight: Over 170 lbs. To 175 lbs.
Light Heavy Weight: Over 175 lbs. To 180 lbs.
Super light Heavy Weight: Over 180 lbs. To 190 lbs.
Cruiser Weight: Over 190 lbs. To 200 lbs.
Heavy Weight: Over 200 lbs. To 265 lbs.
Bout Outcomes
Bouts will end via:
Ultimate fighting:
1.Submission by: Physical tap out. Verbal tap out. 2. Technical knockout by the referee stopping the contest.
3. Doctor Stoppage.
4. Decision via the scorecards, including: Unanimous decision. Split decision. Majority decision. Draw, including: Unanimous draw. Majority draw. Split draw.
5. Technical decision.
6. Technical draw.
7. Disqualification.
8. Forfeit.
9. No contest.
Ultimate KickBoxing:
1. Technical knockout by the referee stopping the contest.
2. Doctor Stoppage.
3. Decision via the scorecards, including: Unanimous decision. Split decision. Majority decision. Draw, including: Unanimous draw. Majority draw. Split draw.
4. Technical decision.
5. Technical draw.
6. Disqualification.
7. Forfeit.
8. No contest.
JUDGING CRITERIA
The ten-point system is in effect for all Survival FC bouts; three judges score each round and winner of each round receives ten points, the loser nine points of less. If the round is even, both fighters receive ten points. The decision is announced at the end of the match.
Fouls:
1.Butting with the head.
2. Eye gouging of any kind.
3. Biting.
4. Hair pulling.
5. Fish hooking.
6. Groin attacks of any kind.
7. Putting a finger into any orifice or into any cut or laceration on an opponent.
8. Small joint manipulation.
9. Striking to the spine or the back of the head.
10. Striking downward using the point of the elbow.
11. Throat strikes of any kind, including, without limitation, grabbing the trachea.
12. Clawing, pinching or twisting the flesh.
13. Grabbing the clavicle.
14. Kicking the head of a grounded opponent.
15. Kneeing the head of a grounded opponent.
16. Stomping a grounded opponent.
17. Kicking to the kidney with the heel.
18. Spiking an opponent to the canvas on his head or neck.
19. Throwing an opponent out of the ring or fenced area.
20. Holding the shorts or gloves of an opponent.
21. Spitting at an opponent.
22. Engaging in an unsportsmanlike conduct that causes an injury to an opponent.
23. Holding the ropes or the fence.
24. Using abusive language in the ring or fenced area.
25. Attacking an opponent on or during the break.
26. Attacking an opponent who is under the care of the referee.
27. Attacking an opponent after the bell has sounded the end of the period of unarmed combat.
28. Flagrantly disregarding the instructions of the referee.
29. Timidity, including, without limitation, avoiding contact with an opponent, intentionally or consistently dropping the mouthpiece or faking an injury.
30. Interference by the corner.
31. Oils applied to the body.
Stale Mates
If both fighters are locked together for a duration of time, and under the referees opinion are not being active enough, both fighters will be stood up and told to start again.
CAGE
The Survival FC uses a cage for all its competitions. The cage used is 23foot wide similar to the one made famous by the UFC. There are two exit gates on each side which are lock during the bout.
Events
The first Survival Fighting Championship event will feature top British and international fighters as well as debut fighters, and fighters from the Survival FC training schools (Kempo Jutsu) The event will be held at the Watford Colosseum in North-West London (WD17 3EX). The event is expected to fill the 2000 capacity venue.
