THE ULTIMATE ABSOLUTE NYC TO SHOWCASE WORLD’S TOP LIGHTWEIGHTS

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Ultimate Absolute returns with top lightweight competitors on the grappling scene. The 16-man No Gi invitational tournament promises a spectacular night of fights Saturday, February 25.

The stakes are high once again with $10,000 to the winner and $1,000 bonus per submission landed in the tournament.

Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles, Ryan Hall, Justin Rader, JT Torres, Wilson Reis, Bruno Malfacine, Renan Borges, and Bruno Frazatto are among the 16 world class grapplers slated to fight.

The weight is capped at 155LBS.

“I wanted to do a lightweight absolute because for the first event I called a lot of lighter fighters and the majority of them said ‘no’ due to the large weight difference,” says The Ultimate Absolute NYC creator, Rob Constance. “I know for myself, I love to see the lighter guys compete for the high-flying, fast paced action they provide.”

Last summer the Ultimate Absolute NYC saw Andre Galvao emerge $12,000 richer. Galvao snagged 10G for first place and 2G in submission bonuses. Names on the card included Vinny Magalhaes, Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu, Davi Ramos, and Rustam Chsiev.

The grappling fight night is catered with a cash bar and arranged VIP seating around the mat area. The fights kick off one at a time on the staged mat area, ensuring spectators don’t miss a beat.

Each match runs 10 minutes in the single elimination tournament.

Directly across the street from the legendary fight venue Madison Square Garden, Hotel Pennsylvania will house the Ultimate Absolute NYC grappling fight night.

The official weigh-ins and press conference are Friday, February 24 at 3pm. Doors at the Hotel Pennsylvania Gold Ballroom open 3pm Saturday. Fights begin at 4pm.

Tickets include catering and range from $125 for third row seating to $150 for first and second rows.

“I know this will be a great show with the list of names we have competing,” says Constance. “They are coming from all over the world to put on a great show.”

The Ultimate Absolute will also stream live online at www.splitdraw.com
