(PRESS RELEASE) -- Mixed Fighting Alliance presents for the first time in Miami “There Will Be Blood 2008”, a Mixed Martial Arts competition that promises to be a great local attraction on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 8:00 P.M. at the AmericanAirlines Arena.
Mixed Martial Arts is a full contact sport that allows a variety of fighting techniques from traditional and non-traditional martial arts to be used in competitions. The characteristics of this sports fighting genre includes, striking, grappling and wrestling hits. Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Karate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo and other disciplines are used, making this a very intense competition.
Among the celebrated contenders is Bobby Lashley, a WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) star who will debut his transition to MMA during this competition. Thirty-two year old Lashley is originally from Junction City, Kansas. At 6’3” tall and weighing 275 lbs., he has been an “Amateur Wrestling” champion and the National Champion of the NAIA. In 2003 he signed a contract with WWE and moved over to professional wrestling. In 2005, he debuted in the Smack Down, and in 2007 he was selected by Donald Trump to represent him in the “Battle of Millionaires”, where he demonstrated his incredible ability on the ring.
Jeff Monson (Pictures) “The Snowman” is an MMA veteran. At 36 years of age, he stands 5’9” and weights 240 lbs. Considered one of the best submission wrestlers in the world, he is currently positioning himself at the highest levels of the MMA after his victory in “Submission of the Night” where he defeated Brandon Lee Hinkle. Monson is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who has won championships in NAGA, Grapler’s Quest and Budweiser Invitational among others.
“We realized that Miami MMA fun based has grown tremendously in the last few years, as evidenced by the Pay per View audience and an overwhelming attendance to MMA events, says Peter Abad, President of Mixed Fighting Alliance. And he adds “MFA promises to take over the void that Elite XC left in Miami but with the only difference is the quality of the events will be superior”.
