Two NAAFS Pro Title Fights Set for Friday in Columbus, OH
Sean Salmon Returns to the Cage
09/17/08 (COLUMBUS, OH) – The North American Allied Fight Series (NAAFS) returns to the Buckeye State capitol on Friday September 19th for NAAFS Columbus Night of Pain 4, headlined by two huge championship fights as the Pro Series Middleweight Title will be on the line, as well as the Pro Series Heavyweight Title. Plus the road towards the National Amateur Finals in December continues in Columbus, OH.
The Pro Series Middleweight Title will be decided when reining NAAFS champion Mitch Whitesel of Wreckroom Athletics defends the championship against 2 time UFC veteran & Columbus’ own Sean Salmon. This is a fight that has been over two years in the making and will finally take place at NAAFS Night of Pain 4! After serving a 10 month medical suspension, Salmon makes his return to the NAAFS and the sport of MMA while fighting in front of the home fans for the first time since his professional debut. Will Sean Salmon, a former Ohio State wrestler, add NAAFS Gold to his growing list of accomplishments or will Whitesel once again overcome the odds and show the world exactly what has brought him to the top of the NAAFS Pro Series Middleweight division?
The Pro Series Heavyweight Title will be up for grabs when current champion “Cujo” Joe McCall (6-0) of Instigator Fight Team puts his unbeaten record and the NAAFS title on the line against #1 contender Justin Black (6-1). This is a rematch from NAAFS Fight Nite in the Flats III in June of 2007, where McCall walked away with a very close split decision victory. Black enters this bout looking to avenge the only the loss of his career, while McCall is out show the measure of a champion is not winning the belt, but rather successfully defending it.
In Pro Series Light Heavyweight action, Columbus native Thad Schlichter steps back inside the NAAFS cage against Terry Davinney. Schlichter has amassed an impressive unbeaten 6-0 record and will look to continue his winning ways at NAAFS Night of Pain 4. Davinney is making his return to NAAFS competition after a two year hiatus and will no doubt be looking to make an immediate splash by taking down the undefeated Schlichter in front of his hometown fans.
