“UCB 6: Bombs Away” set to explode over Northeast Ohio on July 9

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The fireworks will last a little longer in Northeast Ohio this year. Although many of the explosions went off in the sky on July 4th, there will be some detonations inside the cage on July 9th, as Dan Bobish’s “Ultimate Cage Battles” returns to Ohio Nets Sports Complex in Parma, Ohio for “Bombs Away,” a pro/am mixed martial arts event featuring some of the best fighters from Ohio and surrounding states.

“I keep telling people that we’re bringing the best fighters in the world to Northeast Ohio,” said UCB co-owner and CEO Dan Bobish. “For this fight we have one of the hottest fighters in Ohio in Matt Masterson, as well as a grudge match between Brandon Ezzo and Marcus Reynolds that I can’t wait to see…not to mention that we have four of the best young fighters in the state competing in our Featherweight World Title Tournament.”

The night’s main event will feature a middleweight style clash, as slick submission specialist Matt Masterson (fighting out of Cleveland, OH / 8-3; 3 KO, 4 sub) will take on elite athlete Marcus Finch (fighting out of Cincinnati, OH / 4-3; 2 sub) in a bout that is almost guaranteed to produce an exciting finish. Masterson will look to continue his two-fight submission streak, while Finch will make the trip up I-71 looking to start his own winning streak in Masterson’s back yard.

A middleweight grudge match will serve as the co-main event, as Evolve MMA product and former No. 1 middleweight contender Brandon Ezzo (fighting out of Akron, OH / 6-4; 2 KO, 4 sub) looks to avenge the first loss of his career as he takes on unorthodox fighter and knockout artist Marcus Reynolds (fighting out of Detroit, MI / 7-7; 6 KO). This Ohio vs. Michigan battle has the fans buzzing, and one of these fighters could be going to sleep before the night is over.

The semifinals of a four-man Featherweight World Title Tournament will also take place, as Andrew Carrillo (fighting out of Wichita, KS / 2 KO, 3 sub) takes on Josh “El Cabron” Tyler (fighting out of Mechanicsville, VA / 1-0; 1 sub) and Justin “The Hawk” Steave (fighting out of Weirton, WV / 0-0 pro, 12-5 am) takes on Chase “The Nerd” Piatt (fighting out of Bucyrus, OH / 1-0) for the right to be declared the best featherweight fighter in the Buckeye State.
