Twelve bouts of intense Mixed Martial Arts fighting to be featured in 30 foot cage

RICHMOND, VA. The Alltel Pavilion at the VCU Stuart C. Siegel Center will be hosting its first Mixed Martial Arts event Friday, January 19th. Valhalla 4, "The Conquest" will feature a variety of elite athletes, both men and women, in a large range of weight classes.

The MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) event is held in a 30ft cage and is sanctioned by the Global Combat Alliance. The GCA provides fair rule sets and a sanctioning body for amateur mixed martial arts events on the East Coast.

"We're very excited about MMA coming to the heart of Richmond and to the VCU campus. The sport has grown tremendously over the last couple of years and has become very popular in the State of Virginia," said MMA Institute Owner Rick McCoy. McCoy's school has 6 fighters on the Valhalla 4 card.

Doors to the event will open at 6PM, with fights starting at 7PM. Tickets are available by either calling the VCU box office at 828-RAMS or visiting www.ticketmaster.com. Students presenting a valid student ID at purchase time will receive a $5 discount.
