Vila anxious to prove he’s the best fighter in the world

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Patiently waiting for a chance to face the top 125 or 135-pounders in the world, Alexis Vila has taken his anger out inside the cage, dominantly finishing every fighter put in his path.

Vila entered the mixed martial arts foray in 2007 as one of the most highly touted prospects to enter the sport, a former Olympic bronze medalist and multiple time world champion in freestyle wrestling. In fact, Vila was ranked as the most dominant wrestler in the world for three years running from 1993-1995.

Training at on of the best gyms in the world, American Top Team Coconut Creek, Vila immediately flourished as a mixed martial artist. Known as “The Exorcist,” or “El Monito” to his Cuban fan base, Vila has now finished six consecutive opponents, including five consecutive knockouts. Vila enters his fights possessed, needing to release demons on unsuspecting opponents. Now 8-0, Vila is ready to take on the top fighters in the 125-pound flyweight and 135-pound bantamweight class.

“I’ll fight anybody, any time, anywhere,” Vila said. “I’ve proved that I’m the best. No one will fight me and I want the opportunity to fight the best in the world.”

The Cuban will enter his next MMA contest on February 12 at a Mixed Fighting Alliance Promotions event at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, with his opponent Lewis McKenzie (10-3) the only thing on his mind.

“I’m going to fight Lewis McKenzie. My conditioning is fantastic and I feel ready to fight. I'm going to continue fighting and beating whoever is willing to fight me to prove I'm one of the best fighters in the world. Whatever happens in this fight, I’m going to take it, using it to my advantage.”

Currently under new management, ML Management Group, Vila is ready to step out as one of the next stars in the sport. The 39-year-old fighter has joined with friends and American Top Team teammates Jorge Masvidal, Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante, and Jorge Santiago to form the cast of “Miami Hustle,” a new reality series designed to show some of the best international fighters in the world all training together in Miami.

“Vila is the best unknown fighter in the world. This man is invincible,” said his manager, Tina Vidal-Smith. “It is his time to break onto the main MMA stage and show the world what he is truly made of.”
