WKA and WFK Champion Crowned
Charlottetown,Prince Edward Island,Canada was the site for the
unification World Title fight for the WKA and WFK Belts this past
Oct 7th.
The Island Inferno was filmed for later worldwide TV broadcast. Nawaz had 1992 Canadian Olympic Bronze medalist,CHRIS JOHNSON, in his corner while Bonefant had multi title winner Tony Ventura in his.
Round 1 started with Nawaz using his sharply honed boxing skills. He caught Bonefant early in the round and stunned him with a lead hook. Both southpaws traded shots with Nawaz having a slight advantage.
In round 4 Nawaz started throwing more and more of his world renowned kicks and caught Bonefant with a couple of sharp axe kicks that started to take their toll on the courageous American.
Round 7 saw Nawaz drop Bonefant with a crisp combination but Bonefant rose up just in time to carry on.
There was too much time left in the round for the groggy New Hampshire native though and Nawaz, from Burlington, Ontario, Canada capitilized by finishing off Bonefant for good.
Co-Promoter,Barry Ogg said both camps displayed class and dignity all weekend and that a rematch was asked for by Bonefant and Ventura would also like to fight at the classy Delta Prince Edward Hotel's Ballroom at some point.
