Wounded Warrior Project to Help Veterans

Nov 1, 2006
On the veteran's day November 11 on Spike TV Mixed Martial Arts fighter Travis Lutter (Pictures) will be embarking on the biggest fight of his career. He will be fighting in Spike TV's Ultimate Fighter 4 finals against Patrick Cote (Pictures) or Edwin Dewees (Pictures). The winner will receive a title fight against UFC middleweight World Champion Anderson Silva.

This is a challenge and opportunity of a life time, but Travis realizes that there are many others that face even greater challenges than stepping into the octagon with a talented and determined opponent. It is a fact of life today that many of our real heroes fighting for our safety and freedom are facing even tougher challenges when they return from fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq. Many service men and women return home with severe injuries that take a toll on themselves and their families. Training and fighting in the Octagon cannot compare to the hardships that these military men and women and their families face every day.

On Spike TV, November 11, as Travis fights in front of many Americans, he wants to give back to the real heroes fighting to give us all a chance to pursue our dreams. This is why Travis has decided to use his fight in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter 4 as a vehicle to help those who have sacrificed more than many of us will ever be able to understand. He is teaming up with the Wounded Warrior Project to help those veterans returning from active duty that have suffered serious injuries while putting themselves in harms way.

About the Wounded Warrior Project:
The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is a non-profit organization aimed at assisting those men and women of the United States armed forces who have been severely injured during the war on terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan and other hot spots around the world. Beginning at the bedside of the severely wounded, WWP provides programs and services designated to ease the burdens of these heroes and their families, aid in the recovery process and smooth the transition back to civilian life. Services provided by WWP include benefits counseling, rehabilitation, adaptive sports opportunities and advocacy initiatives.
