Xtreme Fight Night 2: Gerald Harris Returns

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Xtreme Fight Night 2 returns to the The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa on Friday, February 25. The mixed fighting card continues to take the Tulsa fight game to the next level.

Headlining the Mixed Martial Arts portion of the card is former UFC contender and native Tulsan Gerald “Hurricane” Harris (17-3). He battles rising challenger James Head (5-1) in a 185-pound bout.

This marks Harris’ first fight since being cut by the UFC. He compiled an impressive 3-1 record including two Knockout of the Night bonuses as well as one SportsCenter highlight reel slam.

His last fight in Oklahoma was two years ago. He is excited to work his way back to the top starting in his hometown.

Another intriguing MMA bout pits WEC veteran Mike “Wildfire” Budnik (10-4) against Jonny Carson (10-4). This 155-pound Title fight has been in the makings for years. Budnik and Carson are also native Tulsans.

Budnik now lives in the Chicago area where he trains fulltime. “I am in great fighting shape. I have an opponent I have wanted for a very long time and I am more prepared than I have ever been,” says Budnik.

Carson moved to California were he trains with the Skrap Pack. Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez will be on hand to corner Carson in this highly anticipated battle.

“I have World Champion caliber sparring partners in Gilbert Melendez, Jake Shields, and the rest of the Cesar Gracie guys. I’m the best fighter I’ve ever been,” says Carson .

Filling out the MMA portion of the card will be budding stars such as Andrew Todhunter, Thompson Hornet and Charlie Wright.

Complimenting the mixed martial arts action is a boxing war between two Native Americans fighting for pride. Thomas “Thunderkick” Longacre challenges undefeated George “Comanche Boy” Tahdooahnippah.

Longacre starred in Chuck Norris’ World Combat League. He also is an undefeated mixed martial artist. For one night, he will trade in his trademark “Thunderkicks” for an old school slugfest.

Tahdooahnippah seems offended at the thought of a novice boxer challenging him. He is determined to convert all in attendance into “Comanche Boy” fans.

Kickboxing phenom Randy “Boom Boom” Blake takes on Myron “The Future” Dennis in a standup battle.

Witnessing the fight card from ringside will be none other than retired boxer Micky Ward. His life is chronicled in the critically-acclaimed film “The Fighter” which will be up for Academy Awards two days later.

Promoter Dale “Apollo” Cook promises to deliver another exciting night of MMA, boxing and kickboxing bouts. He was recently named to Strikeforce’s World Grand Prix Heavyweight Tournament review committee.

Eleven bouts are scheduled for the traditional ring. The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa provides amphitheater seating and big screens so every seat feels like the front row. Ticket information is available online in The Joint section of HardRockCasinoTulsa.com or by calling 918-384-ROCK.
