Yahoo! Canadas Round 5 Launch Event: A No Holds Barred Success!
Putting fans into submission, Round 5: the first official line of
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) collectibles (www.round5mma.com), made its
debut on Friday, May 30th at Yahoo! Canada's Round 5 Launch Event
inside Toronto's own Brant House (www.branthouse.com). Former UFC
Champion, Randy "The Natural" Couture in partnership with Pressure,
a creative marketing studio (www.pressure.org), unveiled their
first four figures to the avid MMA enthusiasts, eager to get one
step closer to inside the octagon.
Sean "The Muscle Shark" Sherk, along with Canadian MMA athletes Mark "The Machine" Hominick, Mark Bocek (Pictures) and Chris "The Polish Hammer" Horodecki all joined in on the action. Sherk and Couture even arm-wrestled on stage, battling out the decision on who will be the fourth character in Series II of the collectibles. There were no takedowns, however, Randy came out the winner, and will be announcing the fourth character in weeks to come.
Series I of the collectibles features Couture, UFC light-heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson (Pictures), former UFC light-heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz (Pictures), and former 2-time UFC World Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes (Pictures) - whom guests of the event got first dibs on in their grab bags. Guests were also privy to Sherk announcing his inclusion in Series II of the figurines, which will also feature Anderson "The Spider" Silva and Rich "Ace" Franklin.
Round 5 are affordable at $16.99 each, and can be found in 2,500 stores across North America. In Canada, the figurines are available at Toys "R" Us and Sunrise Records among other outlets. The figures are also headed to the United Kingdom and Japan.
