Recent rankings outcomes have mostly gone to the chalk, but that’s not to say they were without contention.

Benson Henderson was favored to get his hand raised in his UFC lightweight title rematch with Frankie Edgar at UFC 150 and he did just that. However, it was “The Answer” with whom most scorecards sided in Denver. With Nate Diaz already waiting in the wings for Henderson come December on Fox, it puts Edgar at a unique career crossroads, especially as many bang the drum for him to cut to 145 despite his outstanding track record at lightweight.

Just a week prior, Mauricio Rua retained his lofty standing at 205 pounds by knocking out Brandon Vera in a thrilling Fox main event, but “Shogun” looked so worn in his often-trying victory that the spoils of facing champion Jon Jones next shall likely go to Lyoto Machida, who axed Ryan Bader earlier that evening.

Speaking of “Jonny Bones,” he is the next alpha dog in these rankings to next defend his spot. If recent history means anything at all, he ought to expect hell from Dan Henderson.
