NEWCASTLE, England, Jan. 18 -- It seems probable B.J. Penn (Pictures) won't be mistaking Newcastle for Hawaii anytime soon.

Friday's weigh-ins for UFC 80, headlined by a lightweight title fight between Penn and Joe Stevenson at the Metro Radio Arena, saw a couple thousand fans brave the rain-drenched northeast of England.

Their efforts to attend returned a relatively uneventful affair as far as weigh-in histrionics are concerned. All fighters made their required poundage without undue fuss.

Penn promised to be both "strong and flexible" in his vacant lightweight title throwdown with Stevenson, a former "Ultimate Fighter" winner who didn't rule out a flash knockout or a quick submission in his own pre-fight statements.

Each challenger for the ownerless UFC lightweight title looked chiseled, and both hit the scales at 154.

Heavyweights Gabriel Gonzaga (Pictures) and Fabricio Werdum (Pictures) weighed in at 255 and 247 respectively, with Werdum looking a little soft in the middle. Both promised quick victories in a rematch of their 2003 encounter won by Werdum.
